From August 18 to 22, a five-day training course was held in Kosovo for 38 participants from the Kosovo Forest Agency (KFA) and inspectors from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The aim of the event was to deepen knowledge and experience in the field of sustainable and multifunctional forest management and to promote professional exchange.<\/p>\n\n

Participants gained theoretical and practical insights into the following topics: <\/p>\n

\n
    \n
  • multifunctional forest management<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • national and European legal framework<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • establishment of the administrative structure and control <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • forest function planning<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • silviculture, climate change adaptation, and valuable timber production<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • occupational safety<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • development of alternative sources of income<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • social aspects of forestry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

    A second training week is planned for the end of September. It will focus on practical implementation in the forest and will include, among other things: <\/p>\n

    • silviculture and, in particular, the conversion of coppice forests to high forests<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • portfolio management and goal setting<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • occupational safety in practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

      The training is being conducted by the Department of Forestry, Society and International Affairs and FAST Ossiach. It is commissioned by the FAO project \u201cSupport for Strengthening Sustainable and Multipurpose Forest Management to Address Climate Change and Improve Rural Livelihoods in Kosovo\u201d (GCP\/KOS\/007\/SWE & GCP\/KOS\/008\/EC).<\/p>\n\n
