Unit
Plant Health Control
The Unit of Plant Health Control deals with insect science in connection with trees and shrubs. The work with damage caused by insects, other arthropods such as arachnids (e.g. mites) and nematodes, their development, the biology of the pests and interactions with antagonists (beneficial organisms) and abiotic damage represent the core activity.
In addition to diagnosis, risk assessment and the development of strategies and measures for monitoring and control are given a great deal of attention. Scientific activities ensure that these methods are improved.
One of the unit’s aims is to make new findings and proven forest entomological knowledge available to people, companies and institutions working in the “forest and tree” sector, as well as to interested parties.
The employees of the unit carry out inspection tasks on behalf of the Federal Forest Office.
