Forest

Biodiversity

The Unit Forest Biodiversity is being newly established in 2021. Our aim is to understand the processes influencing forest biodiversity and its spatio-temporal dynamics. By observing and predicting the impacts, such as climate change, biological invasions, habitat connectivity, we are aiming to build the knowledge base for an adaptive forest management considering various aspects of biodiversity. An effective and creative knowledge transfer is supporting this.

  • Sustainable use and management of non-native tree species (ALPTREES)
  • Promotion and effect of habitat connectivity (ConnectForBio)
  • Monitoring of forest ecological parameters and adaptation of forest management (Waldökologische Serviceplattform)
  • Information and knowledge transfer (2020: im Zeichen der Waldbiodiversität)
