The Unit Forest Damage Diagnostics & Research operates the diagnostic laboratory for determination of tree-parasitic fungi, insects, nematodes, oomycetes and bacteria. Morphological and molecular methods are employed, which are continuously developed and adjusted to new research questions. Another focus is on documentation and archiving results of investigations. Research in the Unit also deals with complex causes of tree diseases as well as biology and ecology of plant pathogens..
