Genetics

The Institute is concerned with the genetic information of forest trees and other organisms living in forests as well as with the dynamics of genetic processes in forest stands, taking into account environmental stress and forest management. Important basic research areas are genome research, population genetics and origin research (gene ecology).

The aim is to translate genetic knowledge into measures for the promotion of biodiversity, for genetically sustainable forest management, for the protection and management of genetic resources and for the promotion of the adaptability and survival of complex forest ecosystems.
