PARAmount: Interpretation of an Expert Survey by BFW

Within the framework of the project PARAmount a Communication and Decision Support Tool (CDT) was developed, as a contribution to the highly emotional discussion about natural hazard management. Basic information was collected by means of an online survey in which respondents were asked to rate the importance of individual parameters for different process types.

More than 300 experts from the Alpine Space were invited via email to contribute to this survey, which could be retrieved for four weeks on the internet

The intention was to collect information about the following five natural hazard processes:

  • Floods in torrent catchments
  • Debris flows
  • Spontaneous landslides in loose material
  • Rock fall
  • Avalanches

Both the method and the interpretation results of the questionnaire are published now and available as a download.
