Special Unit Forest,
In the light of social and economic change, the interests for and demands on the forest are changing. Society sees many functions to the forest, utilization-species diversity-recreation-health, which the forest should provide and which we expect from the forest. This sometimes results in synergies, but often in conflicting goals in management and use of the forest.
In the Forest-Society-International Department, we address the question of how forest management can meet and actively shape the diverse and changing demands of society. Through information, research, training and consulting, we prepare the way for advising forest owners and managers on how to preserve the economic, ecological and social value of their forests. We contribute our experience to national and international projects and policy advice.
